Description:
The μMouse is a Smartmouse / Phoenix compatible device, allowing communication with a standard 5V ISO7816 smartcard through a RS232 (6) interface. The +A version has an additional AVR (Funcard) programming mode. In the seven Smartmouse / Phoenix modes, the reset line of the smartcard is controlled by the RTS signal from the RS232, in Smartmouse modes, RTS is inverted. Jumper 1 (4) toggles between Smartmouse and Phoenix modes. Each of the seven Smartmouse / Phoenix modes generates a different clock for the smartcard; the mode in use is shown on LEDs F0-F2 (3). The AVR mode (only +A version) is signaled by LED FP (F0-F2 are off in this mode). Choosing modes Pressing the push-button (1) less than two seconds, the mode will be increased on release, the mode LEDs change accordingly. Pressing the button for more than two seconds will save the actual mode (not in AVR mode!). As a visual feedback, the F0-F2 LEDs will flash after the mode is saved, flashing will continue until the button is released. Smartmouse / Phoenix To t o g g l e b e t w e e n Smartmouse and Phoenix modes, use Jumper 1 (4), see picture. Power supply The μMouse works with 5V DC internally. External power will be regulated, so an unregulated DC power supply o f 6 V u p t o 9 V i s recommended. Please connect your supply with a 2.1mm plug to the power connector (2) while paying attention to the polarity (see illustration). Standby / startup timer Using jumper 1 (4) a special feature can be configured, allowing the μMouse to go to a power saving standby mode on invalid level on the RS232 interface (host turned off, cable not connected, etc.). If a valid signal is sensed, the μMouse switches on again but waits an additional 20 seconds before switching on the RS232 again (F0-F2 LEDs will flash alternating during this time), preventing boot problems of some hosts. Alternative connections Using pin header K4 (5) the μMouse can be connected to some special hosts (like D2RS232 from digitalfreedom). Using K4 as a connection to a host, power shall only be supplied to connector (5) or connector (2).
